Caravan Medic

Caravan Medic East Anglia is an 'Approved Mobile Workshop'. The Approved Workshop Scheme is backed by The Caravan Club, The National Caravan Council, The Camping and Caravan Club, and all major tourer and motorhome manufacturers.

To be part of the scheme workshops have to meet high standards of competency and comply with rigorous standards. These are independently assessed. The benefit for you is that as well as knowing your caravan or motorhome will be serviced professionally, any manufacturers warranties that are in place will remain valid. You do not need to take your caravan back to the dealer you bought it from.
It does not matter whether you own an old caravan worth less than £1000 or a motorhome worth more than £50,000 you will want peace of mind knowing that everything has been checked and is in working order.
We offer mobile caravan and motorhome servicing. As with repairs you will find our servicing prices to be cheaper than those charged by dealerships and the mobile service makes it more convenient for you.
Have spoken to them & really liked their attitude. Definitely will use them!

Where`s My Office Now?

An interesting and relatively new blog from the States.

"This is an experiment. It’s an inquiry into a lifestyle created by the merging of two historically different paths — the blend of an adventurous nomadic lifestyle, with a traditional 9-5 business career. What challenges and opportunities will arise? What will be learned? In the end, will it all be worthwhile?"

Campervan Things

UK blogger, working on the road & general campervaning.

"This is a blog written by me, Rick Hurst, about my experiences working as a web developer on the move. Started as a travel blog in 2010 for a six week summer camping trip with my wife and son touring france in our 1998 vw beetle , it contains insights into working on the road, equipment, tools, camping, experiences and places.

Since buying my second VW T25 (T3/Vanagon) camper last year (a 1983 diesel Devon Moonraker), it is now mostly about.. er.. "camper van things", (hence the name!).

I work as a contract/ freelance web developer. Working always from a laptop, often in cafes and shared studio space, and sometimes from my car, camper or tent on camping trips. I live in the lovely city of Bristol, UK, with my beautiful wife and son."

MotorHome365

The Motorhome Fulltimers Association aims to give a stronger voice to fulltimers in their struggle with officialdom. Too often fulltimers are penalised because the “system” is not geared up for those who wish to travel full time in their motorhomes.

These problems include obtaining the relevant insurance, receiving pensions and benefits, driving licence problems along with issues with bank accounts, travel documents and the police. The association will set out clear objectives and then form a plan of attack to achieve them.

Deep Red Motor Home

This is an on-going record of how we've taken a brand-new Fiat panel van and cut big holes in it to convert what remains into a motorhome. We hope anyone contemplating building a motorhome will find encouragement here. With careful planning, modest diy skills, a few basic tools, and a little determination it can be done.

As we are building this website in parallel with doing the work on the van, some sections may be incomplete. We have to do it this way as we'd never remember in a year's time how, or why, we did things.

Deep Red Motor Home
Van Dwellers.org

What is this site about? Well it is about living in cars, vans, trucks or campervans on a minimum income. It is about both planned and unplanned vehicle living. That is living in a car or other vehicle by deliberate choice, or by having no other choice.

So why have I made this web site? Mostly because I want to help people who may find themselves in this situation. I have been homeless before. I've lived in a little shed I built in the bush out of scrap corrugated iron. When I was at university I slept in hidden roof spaces and machine rooms in the university. Later on I slept in my car overnight many times while road tripping. Finally, now I am living in a large campervan, a converted bus. I have some experiences and advice I want to share. I also wanted to do this on a web site of my own instead of one of those bloggs or freebie web sites out there so there will be no silly pop up adds and I have control over how it will appear online.

What is the aim of the web site?

The aim of this web site is to provide practical advice for people living in vehicles. Practical tips on how to manage living in your vehicle is what this site is about. There is also sections for details about my car living experiences. I am also including a forum so that vehicle dwellers can discuss aspects of car living, van living and other vehicle living. People can share information, make suggestions for information to be added to the web site and to request I create tutorials on how to do various car living activities. This is is a growing web site, new information will be added as it becomes available or as I learn new things.

One thing I should point out is that unlike many people who live in cars, I have a solid job that pays pretty well. So I'm willing to test some stuff and theories related to living in cars and write up tutorials and lessons on them. I already have a tutorial on installing a dual battery system. These are the sort of questions I've been wanting to find out the answers to myself.

Living in a Swift Kontiki Motor Home

Hello

My name is Paul Jenkins and in the last weekend of November 2010 I bought a motorhome and decided to tell society to get lost, live in it and do some travelling! After a marriage break up and living in rented accommodation for 18 months I needed to do something and this is my choice. If you are thinking of taking this step then feel free to read on. I've outlined each week of my adventure and I hope you enjoy reading it. Please come back and read further as I update it every week...

On Thursday 25th November I collected my Swift Kontiki Motorhome which I bought off EBay!! I did at least go and see it first, and being an ex mechanic from many years ago kinda new what to look out for, shame I didn't know about caravan stuff though! Its a Kontiki 640/6 model, never stepped foot inside one before other than an odd vee dub so its new to me. I've detailed my first week a little bit more than other weeks as the whole thing was all new to set up etc.
